Expansion Tank
Plumbing leaks are
a common defect. In
the photos above the expansion tank on the water heater is the
source of the leakage. Visible corrosion at pipe
fittings is a common indication that the fitting is leaking
and in need of replacement or repair.
Expansion tanks
such as this one are a common source of leakage due to the
weight of the water-filled tank that is mounted on top of the
piping without adequate support. As a result, the pipe
is forced to bear the weight of the tank and leakage results.
