Double-Glazed
Window Failure
Double
glazed or insulated glass windows and doors are made up of two
or more panes of glass that are sealed air-tight between the
panes.
This sealed space is designed to insulate and provide
increased energy efficiency.
However,
the
air-tight seal between the panes is subject to failure, often
resulting in condensation between the panes which eventually
etches ("fogs") the panes.
As the condition worsens, the window will eventually
become completely opaque and the window unit, like the one
shown above, will need to be replaced.
